Broadcast & Production Built On Reputation

After a 13-year career teaching and lecturing in music and media production, Paul Barton Hodges set up his first productions company in 2016.  Shortly after this he was invited to join a corporate group specialising in asset leasing enabling the business to provide broadcast installations on fully managed lease packages.  Over the next 6 years Paul’s clients included national orchestras, performing arts conservatoires and independent schools.  During lockdown, a strong relationship developed with an emerging London events agency and, with Paul’s input, a sector leading virtual and hybrid production service was developed.

In 2021 Paul reestablished the BH brand with BH Broadcast now focusing on live event broadcast and production.  It was at this time that he started working with a number of top events agencies and has since produced events for leading multi-national corporate clients, international news publishers and fashion brands and has coordinated broadcasts from some of the country’s most iconic buildings and venues. Paul is currently donating his expertise to the second phase of development of a radio station for the Anglican Church in Malawi after its initial launch a few years ago.

BH broadcast offers services to all sectors but has a particular speciality in music and the performing arts, drawing on Paul’s background as a musician and performer.  Regular use of PTZ systems from both Panasonic and Sony enable discreet multi-camera coverage with minimal impact on the audience experience of the event.

Our Process

Step 1: Initial Briefing

First we talk.  This is a chance for us to meet your team and learn about other providers on the project. We are used to dovetailing with venues and other suppliers, so this meeting is a chance to establish who is doing what.

Step 2: Project Management

Next we agree a project management structure. You may have one already so we will work with you to find the best fit. Importantly we develop the event Show Flow or Agenda which is the master document for the event.

Step 3: Event Design

Once the different elements start to come together, we will provide an event schematic drawing. This will be used to generate kit lists and will make sure that all systems are correctly configured.

Step 4: Pre-Production

Event delivery starts with the Pre-Production stage and for any broadcast this is essential. This will involve a walk-through/rehearsal ahead of the event to make sure we have all of the necessary graphics, videos etc. Remote speakers will be booked in for a tech rehearsal and stream destinations will be tested.

Step 5: Event Day(s)

With everything prepped and tested we will arrive and setup at the venue and, ideally, run a cue to cue rehearsal ahead of the start. Importantly, our show flow/agenda document is live and can be followed in real time by all of the production team. This is important as it keeps everyone on cue and will clearly show if the event is running ahead or over time (see below), just like a TV broadcast!
